New color WASABI denim made with 100% American Memphis cotton selvedge denim. Stone bio-wash gives it a deep indigo blue color while retaining the original indigo look. The overall fading creates a vintage-like appearance. Using an old-style gravity loom, the fabric is woven slowly and powerfully to reproduce the rugged texture and unevenness of 1950s vintage denim. In addition to the dry touch unique to Memphis cotton, the omission of the singeing process creates a fuzzy texture like kibata (raw denim). The rounded wide silhouette, tapered pattern from the hem, and two tucks at the waist create a more three-dimensional form. Sewing is done at a special sewing factory in Okayama, and every detail, from the V-stitch and hidden rivets to the TALON 42 zipper, faithfully reproduces the specifications of the 1940s-50s. The waistband (belt) attachment is finished with a continuous stitch to the end of the band. The edge stitch is sewn from the front body towards the center of the band, and the end of the stitching is triangular. This is a stitch work that also serves as reinforcement, and by straddling the continuous stitch of the attachment, it also prevents fraying of the continuous stitch. The back pockets are attached with hidden kan-dome (bar tacks) and hidden rivets for a sturdy construction. This is also a specification created for reinforcement. The hidden rivets are a faithful reproduction of vintage items and have been processed. The hem is finished with a Union Special continuous stitch. The belt loops are made with a raised loop in the middle, also for reinforcement. In addition, the tack buttons and rivets are all faithful reproductions of vintage items and have been processed. The SEA engraving is subtly placed in silver.
